Token Ring: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.5 standard that uses a token-passing technique for media access control (MAC). Token Ring supports media of both shielded and unshielded twisted pair wiring for data rates of 4 megabits per second (Mbps) and 16 megabits per second.
