automatic file replication: The replication of files and directories between computers as performed automatically by the File Replication service (FRS). In a domain distributed file system, FRS provides automatic file and directory replication between targets. The user configures automatic replication through the DFS administration tool. Files in a stand-alone distributed file system must be replicated between targets manually or by using other utilities.
